New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has announced plans to expand a program that provides free eyeglasses to all kindergarteners and first graders in the city. Last year, about 26,000 glasses were distributed in over 200 community schools. Officials now hope to expand the program to provide 140,000 vision screenings and 33,000 new pairs of eyeglasses.

Candy company has a new priority
Mars Wrigley Confectionery, the candy company that makes M&Ms and Snickers, will invest over $1 billion to ensure that all of the cocoa it buys will be responsibly sourced by 2025. The company also plans to work with suppliers to battle hazardous child labor on plantations.
